JATC CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM

FOR NEW YORK STATE MECHANIC LICENSING

(a New York State Department of Laborapproved Elevator Training Course Provider)

​All New York State licensed mechanics must complete 8 hours of continuing education each year (starting year 2024) for their application for renewal to be granted and to maintain their Mechanic License. 

(You must wait 366 days until you can attend 2nd eight hour class)


The JATC is offering the required courses to meet the renewal requirements for NYS licensing. Eligible participants must...

  • Be in good standing with Local Union #3, EE Division. (No Retirees) You must submit your official Dec 2024 Local #3 Union Card, a valid yellow receipt, or valid temporary Union Card issued by the Maintenance Department.
  • Have a valid NYS Mechanic License.

Option 1.

An eight (8) hour classes to be held on a Saturday. 

All three required courses will be covered during one Saturday Session.

Available class Dates are: September 21 and September 28.


Option 2.

​Three Course to be held over two (2) evenings. Participants must attend both nights to receive credit for courses.

Available Class Dates are: 

  • ​Wednesday, October 9 and Wednesday, October 16. (If class choice accepted, Email response will follow in October)
  • Wednesday, November 13 and Monday, November 18. (If class choice accepted, Email response will follow in early November)
  • Wednesday, December 4 and Wednesday, December 11. (If class choice accepted, Email response will follow late November)


  • Saturday Classes are held at the Electrical Industry Training Center, 48-40 34th St., LIC, NY 11101. Class is from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. There will be a 30 minute lunch break. Any member arriving past 7:15am will not be admitted.
  • Mid-Week Classes are held at Queens Technical HS, 37-02 47th Ave., LIC, NY 11101
  • Class is from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Any member arriving past 5:15pm will not be admitted.  
  • No member may have early dismissal. 
  • Adherence to class times will be strictly followed.
  • All attendees will be issued a "Certificate of Completion" via email and US Mail..

  3. Choose your 1st and 2nd choice of the Dates listed. If a class date is full, you will no longer have that option to choose from.
  4. Upload your Dec 2024 Union Card and valid NYS Mechanic License.
  5. ***​June 2024 is expired. So are all cards issued prior. A Superintendent Card is not your Local #3 Member Card.
  6. The JATC will contact you via email of class choice acceptance.
